I am so incredibly sad to report the passing of the most gifted Kenny Rankin. He was diagnosed with lung cancer three weeks ago and just passed away. I had the great joy of recording numerous times with him and we just played a few months ago in Los Angeles at an evening at the Mark Taper Forum celebrating singer/songwriters. This is truly a great loss to the music community and my heart goes out to his family and to all the musicians who his gift touched. RIP my dear friend. lee

Yesterday Koko Taylor passed away also. What a fabulous soulful musician.
The music world will miss them both.

Well.....THAT sure SUCKS!!
Kenny was an incredibly gifted man. He created some very nice music, in all styles...some major cats dug him, including Dylan, and Lennon & McCartney...folk, pop, jazz...he knew it all. I recall an early tour he did, opening for George Carlin. I guess they're back together now, "scatting." DANG. Sorry about your loss, Lee...rather close-to-home, to say the least!!! A pastor friend of mine went for a doctor's visit two years ago.
He died eight weeks later of stomach cancer.
You're in my thoughts and prayers, as is Kenny's family.
Cancer SUCKS.
