Firstly a very Happy New Year to ya'll network cats and catesses. I was away on vacation for a while and then straight back to some sessions at Phantom Recordings and then the whole of the NAMM show. I really enjoy it even though it is a tough hang - so many people that I know, so many people that I don't know but who think I should know, so many people whose face I know but who's name I cannot remember - etc etc etc. On the whole a wonderful time and great to see all the new products - and also a time to meet up with my endorsement companies and thank them for their support for so many years. I realized that I have been with Tama Drums and Zildjian Cymbals for 28 years now and Remo Heads and Pro Mark stix for 25 years - that's pretty amazing - for them to put up with me for that long!!!! So-as you know -we will be hitting the road again in March starting off in Dubai and then all over Europe for the rest of the month and we'll putting together a new set list - not a lot of changes but some cool surprises. I will be playing another night at The Baked Potato with Protocol featuring Jeff Babko, Dean Brown, Alphonso Johnson and Everette Harp. The last time we played in December was slammin' and it will be great to play once more with this line up before going off on tour again. Hopefully some of you who live here in LA will make it - Friday February 16th. Bye for now - SP

ANYBODY OUT THERE..................

Earth to Simon.........do you read me, in a galaxy far far away there lived a little drummer by the name of Simon Phillips,we think he is lost in space, can we get him back to earth, who knows........... watch this space.

Relax...

The guy IS über busy, he's got a lot of fingers in a lot of pies (personally I'd have my cake and eat it, too, haha), even on the road. I think it's fair to give him a break. As long as no one is paying to be here, he doesn't owe us to keep us informed about his life..! Hey, some people are more private than others, too. Anyway, we are pretty spoiled as it is with tons of blogs from some of the other members and we pretty much know everything that's going on Toto wise.

WHERE ARE YOU..............................

Simon, where are you, your fans would like to chat to you sometimes but you are never here, we know what a busy man you are but please can you spare some time to write a new blog.

NOT A LOT..........................

Hey Simon, you don't seem to say much on your blog, don't you like the network much then, or haven't you got the time.

Hope you're doing fine, Si.

Just checked the latest updates on the toto web page.
Kind of weird to see your set up without the rack again. When was the last time you had regular stands? 1990? I remember you had that on the The Who tour in 89. And floor toms too. Just waiting for the BIG change any day soon (well, I hope not, really. There's something special about your kit).
Still waiting for august to come, and to see you live in my hometown, Trondheim for the first time. It'll be a blast. See you then.
Take care.

LEARNING..........

Hi Simon,
My 14 yr old son is learning to play the drums, have you got any good tips you can give him,I have told him what a brilliant drummer you are and he knows it takes a long time to get where you are,a lot of practise and hard work,he is in a band with his friends but it is in the early stages,so anything from you would be great.

Tip

@cooljool ... You could check out his dot com!!
A bunch of questions are asked there and annswered by him. You can read out so much infos from there!!
