Greetings!
First off, thanks to all who posted well wishes. As it's already been a week since I celebrated, thought I'd give you a little taste of how it all went. I was originally invited to the Bahamas for the celebration of a new hotel, The Cove, which is part of the resort Atlantis. Needless to say, this attracted a wide array of A-list celebs from Sean Connery to Michael Jordan, Cindy Crawford to Kanye West. Many special events were going on, starting with a special birthday party for my man, Stevie. We're 6 years and a day apart so we've celebrated together many times.
Steve's wife wanted to do something extra special for him as it would be his first birthday without his beloved Mom, who passed away around this time last year. So, my good friend Rickey Minor brought the entire "American Idol" band down and we jammed Stevie tunes with John Legend, Joss Stone, India. Arie, Nancy Wilson and BeBe Winans. I started the set by singing "Higher Ground." It's always a little more unsettling trying to sing like Stevie when he's in the room!
The next night featured a performance by Janet Jackson followed by a jaw-dropping fireworks show that lit up the Cove with stunning colors. Last Saturday nite's feature was the big show starting with Steve Tyler, The Village People (that's right, they're still here!) and Earth, Wind and Fire, who I sat in with, along with Sheila E. There was a birthday cake made for me that I was digging into on the side of the stage and during that time, Gloria and Emilio Estefan sang happy birthday to me.
Considering that I spent my 50th last year in Jakarta, Indonesia-a place I NEVER thought I'd even see-and then to spend this one with my girls in my fave vacation spot, that's 2 special ones in a row!
God is good. Til next time...

Saratoga Show
Happy Birthday (ableit belated)....After missing the last couple shows in Vegas, finally got to see you perform again last night at Saratoga. The venue was beautiful and as usual, you were amazing. I only wish I could've got over to where you were standing when Three Dog Night was on. The ushers were not letting anyone over to that section from the main floor seats - they sent us back to get out.
Best wishes and hopefully I can catch you on the next leg of the US tour. Figures when I finally get to Europe for a few weeks, you play Vegas and California! :-)
happy birthday ...
... and all the best for the next hundred years!
Just could manage to get over for a weekend to join the concert in Dortmund.
