Well, our time here in "sunny, summery" Deutchland is almost over. Still, it's been great in spite of the less than perfect weather. And the crowds...I don't know how you guys do it but thanks for coming out and standing there for hours, in the cold rain, to see us!
As Luke mentioned, we were guests of Genesis and a fab time was had by all. I hadn't seen Phil since last October when we did Andre Agassi's charity event and it's been years since seeing Tony and Mike, who were totally relaxed and enjoying being back on the road. Mike explained that they didn't have the pressures of supporting a new record so they had the mental space to focus on the show and just have fun.
While in Leipzig, I also got the chance to see the beautiful St. Thomas Church, home to one of my favourite composers, J.S. Bach. I was humlbed to stand over his grave site and treated to someone playing wonderfully on an organ with a very impressive set of pipes. And the sound...hard to describe how magnificent it was.
Tonight in Breherhaven was fun, even though it felt like Christmas! Great crowd and a nice aftershow hang on a boat moored in the nearby pier. Really looking forward to Dortmund cause at least we'll be warm!!
Later,
Greg

Hey, Greg,
Were you talking about the 5 frenchies with their fantastic K Ways ?
No matter, be sure of one thing : we will always be there, standing for hours under the rain, to see you. Even of rain, snow or whatever else!

Until next time. Stay well!

Mike was right...
....the pressure must definately be off when you don't have to PROMOTE....just play....I don't think that people have a good idea of how hard it is to market the music....and how much money is drawn from show money to pay for the projects. I'm glad you guys had a great time, Greg.
PS: Look forward to seeing you in INDPLS on MONDAY....We'll hook up and say hi....It'll be me and my wife's 20th anniv. How about that? Kathy is jazzed about seeing the show. Safe travels and see you next week.

GAP: J.S. Bach!!!!
I have more than just keys chops inc common with both of you cats.
Bach's kids had to put up with a music minister for a dad. That can be rough sometimes.
But still cool.
FOUR (!) different churches at once.
St. Thomas... (St. Thomas school is where he taught choir). St. Michael's as well I think, and the two others I've forgotten-but to pull FOUR church gigs at once ouldn't have been easy for the man. WHERE he found time to father TWENTY ONE young'uns is WAY PAST ME.
And write it ALL out for "Toccata and Fugue" and the French Suites ....??? THey didn't have Pro-Tools back in HIS day.
I've read where Jeff P. would play-test Paiste prototypes before they hit hte market. IF Bach's church gig called for a new set of pipes? He walked in and worked 'em over playing before they ever got pulled down adn set up in their new place of operation. I forget the name of the guy who built most of what Bach played. SOMEWHERE in one of my odld text books it's there. I just don't feel like lookin' it up.
I've always wanted to visit Leipzig and also the home of Haydn. Those two cats and Allessandro Scarlotti (sp?) are absolute faves. R. Schumann as well.
Thanks GAP for letting another Keys freak in on paying Herr Bach a little visit. Wish I'd been there. Hey---I wonder, will HE be backin' Gabriel soon? THAT I gotta hear-but don't think I'll miss it. *LOL*
Peace,
T
