Dear Lee, I was watching tv and just learned that Vasco Rossi's "La Compagnia" is number one here in Italy. It's a great cover, Vasco is in top form and your bass is bitchen! This is one of the great classics of Italian pop music, and it's all over the place! I'm so happy you're part of it. You rock man!!! PS: I found a video of this song from an Italian tv special. The guy who put it on YouTube edited out a bit of interview so there is a break in the middle. Also, this is a playback version, with just Vasco: the audio is from the original EP cd "Vasco Extended Play". Drums: Vinnie Colaiuta - Bass: Lee Sklar - Guitars: Mike Landau, Stef Burns and Guido Elmi - Keyboards: Frank Nemola. Recorded at Open Digital Studio, Bologna (Italy) and Henson Studios, Los Angeles. Recording engineer: Nicola Venieri. Recording assistants: Enrico "Flint" Mambella and Kevin Mills.
And yet another clip for the community! Steve and Mike Landau in a amateur footage from a Jam Session. I guess it´s in the Baked Potato, but i´m not sure. (edit: Thanks for the help from fmrecords: It´s the "ARTSKAN Benefite June 12th 2004 @ the Baked Potato" ) Pictures on http://www.stevelukather.net/Picture.aspx?id=87 Takes long to load, it´s 14 minutes long :-) Here the direct link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=613920336108323241&hl=de
Got a call from my friend Chuck Kavooras to come out and record some guitar for a project his friend Biff is working on. The music is a techno/trance/jazz kind of thing. The basic tracks were all done. The tune was a single chord funk lick with atmosperic stuff coming in and out. My job was to add some guitar, anything I wanted. Heard the tune once, laid down a track...kinda tenative, a few CLAMS. Switched to the strat- Track two, same thing. Some nice ideas, some garbage. My gig over over - ref mix to follow. I'm not a session player, but I consider myself ok on guitar. Usually when I record, its rehearsed and I have a concept going in.
