Where do I start????!!!! I guess the first thing I should say that it was an experience I will never forget, in more ways than one! The ferry crossing over from Newcastle to Amsterdam should have taken 12hours, but there was a fault with the ship, meaning it could only run at half-speed, so it took 24hours! This meant we missed a whole day in Amsterdam, which was a shame. But we drove into a square near our hotel at 12am at night, and managed to find an Italian restaurant where we had a beautiful meal and enjoyed watching the 'buzz' of the nightlife. On the day of the festival I set off with my parents at 11am. The 40km drive was supposed to take 30mins. At 12noon, we were 10km from the venue. But it took us a FURTHER 4 HOURS to get the last 10km to the venue! I've never seen traffic before so bad! It was at a standstill 15km back from the venue! We finally arrived at 4.30pm. Missed the opening 2 acts, and the first 15mins of the Scorpions, but was glad I was there in time for Toto, because at one stage the traffic was so bad I thought I was going to miss them too!

Hi guys, Hope you're all enjoying this brief break before heading out on the US tour. Good luck on that, - hope you can prove all those assholes wrong, but if not, then you're welcome over here in the UK, FOREVER MORE!!!! I'd like to thank both Greg and Si for answering my last question on live recording, - the explanation you gave was awesome. My final question also relates to recording, but this time relates to CD mastering and dynamic compression. I've been wanting to find this out for a couple of years now but have been too scared to ask in case it starts any arguments. So please don't take it the wrong way, - I'm merely curious and am in no way dissing anything! :-)

Hi guys, Hope you had an AWESOME time filming the show last night! I can't wait for the DVD to be released!!!........ Can I ask a technical question? Being obsessed with sound and recording, I'd love to know how you actually go about recording a live show. Are the instruments and vocals recorded directly through the soundboard, or is it all recorded through the ambience of the venue, or perhaps a bit of both? Also, how do you record the 'crowd' part without recording the 'music' part (which would otherwise create an echo-effect when mixed with the soundboard recording)? This is something that's always fascinated me!....

You know who you are, so I'll leave the "last names" out of this. Since we've been in contact, I've actually benefitted more from our conversations than both of you. I feel it an honor to know you, and you've made my life much richer. Janneke, when you first wrote me, I know you were in a deep and dark place in your life. That's OK, because anyone who says they've never known that place is probably less than honest with themselves. I thank you for seeing the light and coming back to join us and help us all become better and stronger people. The world would be a lesser place without you and your great smile. You would be terribly missed by all of us if you weren't here.
