Having had the privilege of being invited to spend 3 days at Simon Phillips' studio witnessing Toto putting the finishing touches to their new album in September 2005, Toto's management asked me to draft "Liner Notes" for the Falling In Between CD sleeve. In the end, only the "Band track notes" which I compiled were included in the final CD sleeve layout. TOTO – FALLING IN BETWEEN by Will Minting, November 2005
I was walking to work today, and I starrted thinking about when Toto will release a new album. I suppose it'll take awhile, cause the guys are so busy doing solo albums and so on. I mean, they are all session musicians, Luke is about to go on tour with his solo album, and both Si and Luke have small children at home, and need to stay home once in a while too. And not to forget Mikey, who's obviously struggling with his hands. Not that Lee wouldn't nail it...
While listening to Falling in Between again right at this moment (oh how much I love this CD) I noticed what all of you must have felt and heard anyway - how this band has developed throughout the last 30 years. and this is by no means a classification of this and that being better than the other. it is just a natural progress of musicians with such gift as the guys from Toto have. their music is always Toto and it sounds like Toto in the best ways of looking and hearing at it, whether it is Rosanna or Bottom of Your Soul. It is their craft as fantastic and passionated musicians and theirs putting hearts and souls into the music we love to listen to.
